MRI Vertically Integrates with New Production FacilityPress Release:
Atlanta, GA: August 8, 2011 As a follow up to MRI’s recent announcement relative to the purchase of an additional 137,000 sq. ft manufacturing and production facility, the company has released more details about expansion plans, output capacity, vertical integration, and automation/robotics. The 137,000 sq. ft. production facility in Alpharetta, GA will significantly increase MRI’s current output capacity, allowing for a BoldVu® digital display to come off the production line every 20 minutes. MRI will have the capacity to run four 40 hour shifts a week, with a potential output of 400+ displays per week or 20,000+ displays per year. The new facility will allow MRI to become more “vertically integrated” by bringing all metal, glass, and circuit board fabrication in house. Each year MRI will be able to process over 1 million pieces of metal parts from raw aluminum, steel or stainless steel, along with the ability to produce 150,000+ printed circuit boards. The facility will allow for glass fabrication for MRI’s cover/vandal resistant glass to be brought under the same roof. Automation and robotics are major additions to the new facility, which will feature NC (numerically controlled) laser and turret punches, with “lights out” (i.e., 24/7) automated material handling systems for metal cutting, a robotic panel former (for aluminum and steel), and flow lines with robotic adhesive dispensers, riveting, etc. This automation will help reduce the overall costs and decrease production time for the BoldVu® displays. Instead of sending work overseas, MRI is focused on bringing more work to the US by adding additional production capability in house. MRI’s goal is to reduce both cost and lead-time on these popular displays, while also allowing for a significant increase in quality and capacity to address the growing global demand for outdoor digital displays. MRI will maintain and operate its current 28,000 sq. ft. production facility as an Engineering/Prototype Lab and will not shutdown or disrupt any existing production. MRI plans to complete the new building purchase on August 12 with production scheduled to begin in October, 2011. About MRIMRI is an Atlanta based designer and manufacturer of Digital LCD Displays (22" 72”), Digital Menu Boards, Pump-Top Displays and Self-Ordering Kiosks.
